About Jessica

Jessica Muñoz, LMHC-D, Board Certified Psychotherapist

Welcome! I’m Jessica Muñoz, a Senior Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor in private practice with nearly 15 years of clinical experience specializing in Sexual Assault, Coercive Control, and management of trauma symptoms. I atypically identify as a visible survivor in the field of trauma-informed care.

Visible Survivor and Leading Advocate
In addition to my private practice, I am a survivor leader with Sanctuary for Families, the nation’s leading legal service provider for gender-based violence survivors. Sanctuary receives $60 million annually in pro bono donations for gender-based violence survivors. In June 2024, I delivered the keynote speech at Sanctuary’s 40th-anniversary benefit to an audience of 1,000 donors, where $4 million was raised in a single evening.

Clinical Rigor
With 15 years of clinical rigor, I’ve worked across the spectrum of mental health settings, including psychiatric inpatient hospitals, manning emergency room triage at Columbia Medical Center, and providing community mental health care outside in NYC.

Through this work, I strive to transform retraumatizing systems by cultivating Survivor Leadership Culture—the reinvestment, respect, and intellectual credit for lived experience and cultural expertise.

Being Trauma-Informed is Big Business
With roots in hospitality, including managing the Soho House in the early 2000s, I know firsthand that being trauma-informed can look and feel like really good hospitality. I’m excited to show hospitality and fitness professionals that trauma-informed practices are not just good looks but a powerful business strategy.

As laws tighten and society adopts a true zero-tolerance attitude toward gender-based violence (as seen in countless criminal and civil cases in 2024), gender-based violence poses a significant threat to hospitality and fitness spaces.

This is a great time to get publicly serious about this issue and attract novel clientele who, after extra effort is made to earn their trust, are one of the most loyal groups. Clients managing trauma symptoms can be loyal to a fault, rewarding thoughtful care with extreme loyalty. I’m here to educate you on gender-based violence beyond compliance, showing you how addressing it can elevate your bottom line and unlock vast, untapped markets, ensuring long-term success and customer retention.Read More
